The Party Invites
Once there was an otter who decided to throw a party so he wrote many invites as he wanted lots of guests to come.
First the postman took an invite to the Mayoress but she told him that she could not come because she needed to complete the Woodland Telegraph crossword.
After that the postman called on the Admiral who gave his excuses because he was planning a day’s fishing.
Finally the postman dropped by at the church but the Vicar told him that he would not be able to attend as he would be washing his hair.
Rather forlornly, the postman returned to the otter and told him that all the important people had other plans and would not be coming to the party. The otter was most upset especially when the postman told him the reasons they’d given for not coming. “i want you to go to whoever you can find on the streets; however rich they are, however important, whether they’ve got jobs and homes or not and give them one of my invites. I want lots of people at my party.
So the postman gave out the invites to all he could find on the streets and they received them gratefully. |
He gave them to the postman with instructions to hand them out to all of the important people in the town.
Next the postman went to the Chief Constable’s house to deliver his invite but he declined because it was a lovely day and he wanted to sun bathe.
Then the postman gave the Doctor his invitation but he said that he did not want to miss the last ever episode of his favourite soap so he would not be able to make it.
With great delight the otter flung open his door when saw his guests arriving.
He was so happy that his invitations has been accepted and his party could begin.
