Mulberry Raccoons
I have so much to write about this family.
When they first came out I really wanted them because of their tails ad because I thought they looked like red pandas and I have always been a panda fan!!
The family lived up to expectations and were played with a lot. Initially they were living in very cramped conditions with the other Chestnut Raccoons in the Pony and Trap. Thankfully they were eventually able to move into the Woodland Lodge.
Unusually for many of my dads, Elmer is very responsible and is constantly despairing over the antics of his cousin Durwood Chestnut.
I remember seeing the Grandparents had been released but because I had stopped collecting never thought much more about them even though I thought they were cool with their motorbike. Luckily when I got back into collecting I was able to get George and Mildred. The motorbike is as amazing as I had always thought. Poor Elmer is delighted to see his parents but is constantly worrying about his crazy father and the influence he might have on Ike!
I had also seen that Martha existed and thought I might add her to my collection at some stage. When I was going through a difficult house move and despairing over everything I had to do my sister sent her to me as a pick me up present. We had a joke that she could go to the estate agent for me and chivvy them along. (It was around this time I joined the forum and needed a Sylvanian identity. I felt that Martha was quite similar to me so she has become my pseudnym.)
As much as I loved Martha I felt sad that my family looked a bit uneven when standing for a family photo and mentioned this to my sister. Unbeknownst to me she was already making me an older brother to match the family and I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened him at Christmas. We have called him Matthew and he fits in perfectly.
