Aristotle's first day back
Aristotle could hear the bell tolling as he hurriedly puffed up the path. “How can I be late on the very first day back!?” he wondered confused. “I have no lessons planned, how could I have forgotten that the children need something to do?” his thoughts continued. As he ran, he glanced up and to his utter bemusement he saw his son on the bell tower and head boy Scott Corntop on the roof!
It was a good job that he couldn’t see Scott as well at that moment. At least Grumpy was down from the bell tower.
In desperation, Aristotle fluttered up on to the table to try to gain control of this nightmarish situation. By this point Grumpy had scaled bookhenge, Figwort was standing menacingly behind him and Scott was hitting Bud Timbertop over the head with a book!
Aristotle gradually came to with a huge sense of relief that it had all been a dream and he still had a full six weeks to plan the perfect first day back.

On entering the classroom, Aristotle was met with further astounding sights. Lester Thistlethorn was making bookhenge on the table, much to the admiration of some of his classmates, Figwort Dandelion was trying to escape through a window and Buster Syldale was on top of his desk!
“I’m a good teacher,” Aristotle reminded himself, “I can easily get control of this situation.” With that he tried to hoot above the melee “Children, children take your seats. Buster get off my desk!” To his consternation, the noise level just increased and nobody took the slightest notice of him.
Whilst he was attempting to get everyone to listen, he was horrified to hear the voice of his boss Mr Merryweather politely enquiring “Is everything alright here Mr Treefellow?”
“I...I...” spluttered Aristotle mortified that he’d been discovered in charge of this pandemonium. Mr Merryweather raised his eyebrows questioningly waiting for Aristotle to explain what it was all about, which of course he couldn’t. Still completely flummoxed as to how he’d lost all his teaching and behaviour management skills over the holidays and to why he’d not been more prepared... Above the noise he heard a calming familiar voice breaking though. “Have you enjoyed your first day of the holidays dear? Must be nice to have the time to nap.” |
